King Charlemagne who is considered the first Renaissance man was also the very man who brought Europe out of the dark ages. After Charlemagne, Christianity would involve more and lead to the development of Christian Monasticism, being for a person who lived a life devoted to Christian Worship. Now let me switch gears for a minute, through the discussed novel of Beowulf, we see highlights of Christianity but very subtle hints of monasticism, the author who wrote Beowulf tells the story of himself yet the author is very mysterious, we have no real idea who the author is however due to he tells the story of the Beowulf, I concluded that he was a monastic poet due to the book being set in the era of Anglo-Saxon time period. Christianity played a role in Beowulf because the warriors or kings they believed in that God was who kept man alive, anything profitable such as treasure always came from. I also notice throughout the story were Beowulf has conflict with himself at times, Beowulf knows he has strength and is strong creating conflict with him and the Christian value
