Citizenship Award Analysis

This morning, I have the privilege of giving a special award, the Citizenship Award, to two extra special students. This particular award honors students who have shown by their words and actions that they possess the qualities and characteristics we hope to instill in all of our students. These students participate in school activities, show a positive attitude at all times, possess strength of character and courage to always do what is right, and have tremendous Bulldog pride. This first student who has earned the Citizenship Award is kind, honest, respectful and responsible, has a very strong work ethic, and is just an all-around wonderful person. Her witty sense of humor and her positive, radiant smile can light up any room. She is the first to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. A true friend, many call her. It is evident by the work she produces each and every day that education is of utmost importance to her. What also makes this young lady stand out from the crowd is that she is not afraid to question anything that she is learning; however, she does it in the most respectful way, often challenging others to delve deeper in learning, too. She is the epitome of a great citizen, so much so that the seventh-grade team nominated her not once, but twice during the year for citizen of the month. And, we still are not done. This person was constantly asking questions, coming to see me in the morning, after school, or at the beginning of class just to make sure everything she did was perfect. This person always listened intently; their attention never waning. This person will finish the year with a 99% average, which she will probably not be happy about because she wants that 100. However, in my book, with her dedication, enthusiasm for learning, and determination to always go above and beyond, she deserves much more than a grade. She deserves the Excellence in English Award.
