Each day there is a lesson plan or activity having to do with reading (comprehension and vocabulary), word study/phonics (spelling), oral language (speaking, listening, and viewing), and writing (grammar, usage, and mechanics). One think I like about the basal is how each story has vocabulary words that go along with the story. I would definitely use then as vocabulary words and maybe even use them as the spelling words. Another think that the basal provides that is very helpful is it has comprehension question that can be asked as the teacher and students read the story. One strength the basal has is, it provides the teacher with leveled practice worksheets for students at different levels. It has an easy, on level, and challenge work sheet. This awesome to help differentiate instructions for
