I, Too, Have a Dream Each generation has a leader who woke up determined to make a change in the world. We are the new generation and with a new generation comes a new leader, ready to spark a change. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., one of the most influential advocate for equal rights in his generation, once said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” Dr. King, his words, and determination for a change inspire me to try and reach my full potential every single day, especially when I feel as if all hopes and dreams for the future are gone. As a teenager in America, I face different difficulties compared to the other 7.125 billion people on the earth. Although we may have different situations, all of us have times where we stop looking for a feasible way to overcome an obstacle. However, living a world bereft of hope also means giving up and losing everything. Dr. King never learned how to speak publically, but his Just as we learn from our mistakes, we also get stronger from the hardships we endure. Remembering Dr. King’s uplifting words of encouragement, is enough to give me the fortitude to carry on. …show more content…
Though the challenges I face today are nothing compared to the difficulties that Martin Luther King Jr. and African Americans overcame in their time, all of us leave something behind when we’re gone. Dr. King and the amicable people who stood with him through the Civil Rights Movement leave behind a legacy that will be written in history for many years to come.
