Growing up means that someone has lived and matured from when you were younger. Coming of age themes can be shown in a variety of ways in books, two of these ways being the meaning of life and experiencing love. One of these themes was introduced when the main character of this book, Hazel from The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, went through an event that changed her perspective on the meaning of life. Another theme of coming of age is shown when the main character Juliet, in the book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, experiences love.

The story is Romeo and Juliet, written and written by William Shakespeare. At the beginning of the story of Romeo and Juliet, she is seen as young and innocent. She is naive, making decisions that could put her in danger. She is completely uninterested in the concept of marriage. Juliet experiences her coming-of-age moment when she agrees to marry Romeo because she chooses to follow her path instead of the one her parents chose for her. The moment when Juliet shows that she has matured or become more experienced is when she drinks the potion that will put her to sleep for forty-two hours. She does this in order to be with Romeo instead of Paris, revealing her true devotion to him. This decision shows her independence and courage to succeed in what she truly desires. “My only love sprung by my only hate too early, seen unknown, and known too late.” When Juliet says this, it shows her emese understanding of the love she feels. Showcasing her wisdom and growth while in the midst of navigating her challenges within the family feud between her and Romeo's family. Experiencing love opens Juliet's eyes to a new world that pushes her to make critical decisions and take risks to get what she wants. During this, she also begins to become more independent by deciding to take her own path rather than the one her parents
