For the community based option, I visited three murals around the area of Orange County the murals were located at Santa Ana College, and Cal State Fullerton colleges. Community based education can be defined as education can based on an individual community, this form of education takes into consideration the multitude of factors that contribute to each communities differing culture and backgrounds. Making the education centered specifically to the community and the youth that are living there. The murals, The MECHA, Legacy of Cesar Chavez, and the Access and Education can be used to show how murals as of public art show that they have ideas influenced by community based education. The first mural I visited was at the community college in Santa Ana. The community college is located off the freeway in Santa Ana in a highly Hispanic populated community. Though the campus is relatively smaller in size, it has over 20,000 students that attend. This mural is one of the of three murals located at the college. I viewed the MECHA Mural located in the Nealy library, the mural was on a wood panel that wrapped around the room. In this mural there is quite a lot going on throughout the mural with many different displays. The mural expresses monumental moments that occurred throughout the Mexican history as well as cultural images that are associated with the Chicano culture. The images on the mural shows the hardships and reality faced throughout history. The mural expresses the majority culture of the city of Santa Ana, it is a reflection of those who live in the community surrounding the college. The
