I personally don't think that the United States should require adults ages 18-30 to perform one year of community service. People should be able to choose if they want to perform community service, not forced to do it. Thats why we have the freedom to choose and pursue our happiness.They will achieve better results from people who are willing to do the work than from people who are forced to do the work. Though, it would be nice if every citizen performed one year of community service, I dont think it's a reasonable thing to ammend. People will choose if they want to perform or volunteer on there own. I think if it's a law or you make them then they won't do a good job or perform well at that task. You can't force someone to do somehting they don't want to do. Some people have the skills and interests needed to volunteer for service, and some don't. Their job perfomance will not be as well as someone who volunteers and actually wants to volunteer. Some people might think you take there generosity for granted if they are forced or made to do a service. Alot of people perform service or volunteer casue it makes them feel better about themselves it makes them a better person, so let them volunteer to make them happy and feel like there doing somehting good …show more content…
People have to work for a living, even though they say they will pay you i'm sure it's not enough to support there family on. Some people are single parents and can't take all that time to volunteer or, if they had to be sent to another country would not be able to go. Thats why people volunteer to do service because they have the time and means to do it. People with families or a life to support can not take a year to volunteer with little pay or if they have to travel away from there
