Gun Control
Gun control refers to an ethical, legal, and sociological point of view. Many people believe that if guns were less controlled, there would be less crime. Ethically, many people think that they should be allowed to have guns to protect themselves. From the legal point of view, people argue whether or not the Second Amendment’s, “right to bear arms,” applies to everyone permanently. A lioness has been crouched behind a bush for over an hour watching and waiting to kill them. What can the gazelle do to protect her young? The female lioness is instinctively planning to kill the gazelle family. Should one take away the teeth of the gazelle to keep her safe from vicious random attacks? Of course not. Taking away the mother’s weapon has nothing to do with the intent of the lioness. This same concept applies to the ethical gun control point of view. Many American’s will not come off of their guns because anyone who wants to kill, will kill. People want their guns, and the ones who want their guns bad enough will kill to keep them, because many brave men and women died and killed so Americans could keep them.“The Second Amendment protects an individual right that existed before the creation of any government. The Declaration of Independence made clear that all human beings are endowed with certain unalienable rights, and that governments are created to protect those rights.” (Stevens) American’s believe it is not only their 2nd amendment right, but also their ethical right to use a firearm to protect themselves against anyone else that may or may not have a
