“Horror and fear strikes the Muslim world as Trump wins after months of anti-Islamic rhetoric”- Gareth Davies. The Republican made his most controversial remarks about Islam in December last year, sparking anger among the world's 1.5billion followers of Islam when he called for a ban on Muslims entering the U.S. after a mass shooting in California. There are many parallels with trumps actions and using fear to The Crucible. In the rest of this paper you're going to read about a few of these parallels to the Crucible and how Trump went ran for office.
One parallel is that fear plays a big factor in the election of trump, just like in the Salem witch trials that the Crucible is based on. Trump used some of the terrorist groups such as ISIS and attacks to convince people that we have much to fear and he used it to his advantage in the election. This is similar to how abigail used the witch epidemic to create a panic in Salem to …show more content…
In The Crucible Abigail was a lecturer and denied it while she rose in power in the courts. Donald trump had an affair, tax fraud and much more but denies all the accusations and facts as his campaign went along. The two are similar by the fact that both aren't very good people but lie to cover it up and to pin blame on others so they look better than they know they are.
The last parallel that we’ll talk over is that both Donald and Abigail caused and used a mass hysteria. In the crucible in order to get to John, Abby and some friends did a dance in the forest and then later they acted as if witchcraft was being performed and caused a major panic. During the mass hysteria the girls were able to convict who ever they wanted. In a few ways, this is similar to how Donald Trump used the illegal immigrants in our country and made it seem like a very big problem that he had the answer for.
