Vinny cannot stand up to his friends. Vinny didn't want to go to the raven. He thought that if he told his friends that his mom didn't want him to go his friends would laugh at him.He even calls himself “weak”. Vinny didn't jump from the 50 foot ledge. Joe-Boy jumped “man style” off the 50 foot ledge (the one the dead boy jumped from and died). Joe-Boy said “Hey Vinny, look how a man does it”and jumped “man style”. Joe-Boy left the raven unimpressed. Vinny stood up to Joe-Boy and so he was surprised that Vinny didn't jump so Joe-Boy was unimpressed and thought he was weak and baby-ish. Even though Joe-Boy and Vinny are different they are similar in a few ways. They are both boys and 15 years old. They are both boys because of the names and on page 3 it says his and him so that means they are boys and the author says that they are 15 years old. They are also both Hawaiian. I know this because on page 3 the author says”Joe-Boy’s haloe girlfriend” and haloe means not Hawaiian so that means Joe-Boy and Vinny are hawaiian. They are also both superstitious. They both put a cross or lightning bolt on their chest. Vinny and Joe-Boy are very different yet, still sort of similar. Vinny is a very weak person and does whatever his friends tell him to do. Joe-Boy is a tough bully to his friends and he's a daredevil.
