Comparing Two Kinds And Catch The Moon

This quote is saying when something difficult happens people learn from it. Just like in "Two Kinds" and "Catch The Moon". Both stories are written by two different authors but they connect in many ways like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. "Two Kinds" by Amy Tan is a story about a young girl and her mother who move to America to start a new life. They lost everything including their family in China . In "Catch The Moon" by Judith Ortiz Cofer this story is about a young boy and his father who lost a mother/wife. These two stories both relate to each other through death and change even though they are written by two authors they connect. The similarities in the stories are death and change. "Ni-Kan you watch you be like Chinese Shirley Temple." ( Tan 49 ). This is a section of the story "Two Kinds". The mother wants her daughter to become a prodigy but she wants otherwise. In the story "Catch The Moon", the main character Luis becomes depressed and a changed person after the loss of his mother. Luis balls everything up his hate, madness, and anger. In both stories they turn to different resources to help them take their mind off of what happened in their past. The difference in the stories is in "Catch The Moon" Luis get to release all of his feelings and he gets guided through how to deal with his emotions from a friend Naomi.
