Abby Gall Mrs. Gruber World History 1314 13 March 2024 Comparison of Columbus’ Documents Between an entry in Columbus’ journal, his letter to the Spanish King and Queen, and the book Encounter by Jane Yolen there were many different points of view. The journal and letter were from Columbus’ perspective, but the book was from the Taino people's perspective; specifically from a child. There were similarities between the journal and the letter. They both mentioned that Columbus believed the people had no religion and would make good Christians. All three of the sources mentioned the trade between the groups. Although the journal entry tells us Columbus traded invaluable things, his letter to the monarch contradicts this by saying he forbade his
