In order to do so, therapists use Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) (Williams et al., 2017). This therapy has three subgroups: threat, drive and soothing (Wnuk et al., 2015). CFT is given in 16-week sessions in which they learn how to express, control, and adapt their emotions.
