Competency Reflection

. 6th grade BPI Reflections Competency Reflection Growth and Achievement In growth and achievement I have grown extremely from different IXL achievements, I Ready achievements, and Aleks pie slices when we got to Aleks. Towards IXL achievements, I commonly receive certificates in my emails. Sometimes the certificates can be for questions answered, topics learned, and origami trophies. We take diagnostics for IXL every other week and we receive our scores of how much we went down or up, and if we go up 10 points we get candy or 20 points in candy and a sticker. This motivates us to grow. Towards I Ready achievements we also take diagnostics every other week and this past week I grew 60+ points in reading. Prather does not have any stickers. An IOU is a sticker that implies you receive a sticker when she buys new stickers and they come in. This motivates us to work hard so that way we can get stickers. There are many ways we are motivated as a 6th grader to keep up the good work to reach surprise and delight or prizes. From the beginning of 6th grade to the end, these are the ways I have shown growth. Innovation and creativity In innovation and creativity I have grown widely from the beginning of the year to the end. I have shown growth in innovation and creativity as shown in my about me video. My video is very creative with bright colors, fun facts, and various pictures of me throughout my life. Another way I have shown growth in innovation and creativity is hydroponics. Hydroponics is a system for growing plants that is three white rectangles connected with pipes to supply water for the plants. All of these involve teamwork and group work techniques. My soccer team shows teamwork through practices, games, and fundraisers. In games, we work together as we take the ball through the field to score goals. For my Percy Jackson cabin my partner and I built a 3d model out of popsicle sticks lathered in gray paint along with seashells on the side for a poseidon themed cabin. Lastly, the final way I have shown growth in teamwork is through my invasive species project. My team and I made a powerpoint of different species in Kentucky. We provided facts, other people's opinions, and why we should preserve this species. I also picked teamwork as my promising practice because I am very skilled in this career. These are all why I have shown growth in teamwork this year. Problem Solving I have shown growth in problem solving in many ways throughout 6th grade. What I would have to choose as my best projects are my news channel, Maya Angelou slideshow, and lastly my conservation essay. Towards my news channel it is called Cougar News.
