Introduction.

Social workers are expected to intervene in the lives of service users with consent and sometimes without consent.To do that we have to understand the service users life, their relationships and their environment as a whole.In addition to using our professional judgments in dealing with service users and offering support to them, we are guided by theories, models, and approaches.Theories help social workers to describe, explain and predict what is happening in the service users life, why it happened and what might happen next.(Maclean and Harrison,2015 pg 9)
