Internal displacement has plagued the Democratic Republic of the Congo for nearly 20 years. Militia groups who have been fighting for twenty years and illegally exploiting the natural resources in the Congo are the cause of the mass displacement in the country. In 2007, for instance, thousand people in Kasai Oriental province fled as their villages were burned down following a conflict over a diamond mine in the area. In Lubero territory in North Kivu, Hutu militia forced the civilian population to act as slave porters for their illegal mining activities, causing 373, 000 people to flee their villages. several Communities in the North Kivu province have been left with acute needs. Although the country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo count 65,800,000 of the total population on it’s soil and has innumerable amount of resources, this country is remains the second poorest country in Africa. It is estimated that about 4 million orphans whose population has been by the internal conflict around the illegal exploitation of resources. 71 percent of the DR Congo’s population live below the poverty line earning between 1 and 2 dollars a day. The average Congolese person is the face of the extreme poor in the DR Congo. The DR Congo has the highest extreme poverty rate in the world. That high rate, coupled with the country’s large, growing population (about 70 million today but expected to reach 100 million by 2030). The face of extreme poverty is mostly visible in the numerous slums scattered across urban areas. In the capital city of Kinshasa, households without water or electricity live in appalling conditions with industrial wastes. Many of these families are displaced civilians who fled the east because of the explosive conflict. Reports made by humanitarian state that the majority of these families are single parent households headed by females. These females head have no access to economic opportunities, therefore cannot afford to offer their offspring an education Experts say that the country’s scale is a primary factor causing many to die for parasites and bacteria related sickness. Humanitarian and aid organization struggle to provide the Congolese civilians with basic aid due to rebel increasing activities in the regions affected. Poverty has caused one of the most horrendous consequence being Child
