Controversy: Suicide And Defense Of Human Life

There are several ways that society has for taking human lives. Suicide, defense of self and others, war, capital punishment, terrorism and just plain homicide. Each of these methods have certain arguments for and against and each has the potential to provoke controversy both for and against. I hope to be able to present both sides of the ethical dilemmas by presenting both he arguments for and against taking a human life under the listed circumstances. Suicide in itself is questionable whether or not it is moral or immoral. There are several arguments for and against committing suicide. One of the most prominent arguments against is religious beliefs, that only God has the right to create and take a life. Then again some will argue that each person has the right to control their own body and do what the feel is right. Suicide is done for many reasons, end of rope feeling, medical reasons, pain, and suffering. There is even a trend towards assisted suicide which is illegal as well. The right to bear arms is guaranteed in the Constitution and many feel that the right should be protected at all costs. There are laws written that grant justification to taking a life in support of defensing one’s self or another person. Society condones the killing of another person to save the lives of others. Look at the police officers, they are armed and each one of them knows that someday they make the ultimate decision to use their fire arm and take the life of another in order to save themselves or others.
