In a world where several incidents have occurred regarding school shootings consequently, it is important that these issues are rectified to ensure a safe environment where students can learn. The principal and assistant principals have been involved in the school to facilitate change. Leaders at the school have stressed these issues during faculty meetings to allow all stakeholders to become aware of the issues and thus get involved in the overall improvement of the safety issues in the school. Committees have been developed to problem-solve ways to fix the problem in a cost efficient manner. I believe teachers should be prepared for the unexpected, therefore, they should be aware of the potential harm of their students if proper safety procedures are not followed. In the past 4 years, two buzzer systems have been put in place at the school to ensure that people who are entering the building are properly identified. The principal was able to install the system with addition funds in the budget from winning prize winning from the SCORE prize. The health issues that are not listed as my five choices, the school is doing a great job in ensuring that these issues are of top priority. The health issues that I chose have always taken the back seat when it comes to addressing them. One of the health concerns that our school face is having limited access to the school nurse. With the limited amount of funds to spread across the county, the nurses are spread thin throughout the district. In the district, our nurses serve as floaters, which mean they float from one school to the next throughout the district. The inability to have a nurse consistently in our school means licensed professionals will not be able to take care of sports injuries, administer medication to students, and care for other related health issues. In order to solve the issue, it would be the responsibility of the Central Office to find money in the budget to hire a nurse at each school in the district. In order to fix the problem, the district has to determine a need in each school. I would have a nurse service schools that are within a 5-10 mile radius of one another. This will allow the nurse to be on call, but remain close in the area to service many schools in the area. Other health issues at our school include hygiene issues and
