In first assignment, I picked SCAMPER; this time I choose Creative Problem Solving (CPS) since I thought this is a strategy help adults and children to solve their problems.
Description of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS)
The CPS model was developed by Osborn (1963) and Parnes (1981) elaborated the model as well as Isaksen and Treffinger (1985). In this model, we can utilize divergent and convergent thinking on each steps of the model (Starko 2014).
This model might use in any level of students and any given condition.
Osborn’s model of CS has following steps (Starko 2014):
• Mess-Finding: in this phase we recognize the situation or the problem and defines it.
• Data finding: in order to discover the cause of the …show more content…
Her previous house have a wall and cats always visit their property, the activity was easy to lead. First question I asked her was “What do you see in this picture? What is happening in this picture?” In this way, I tried to make her realize the “mess”, which the little cat can’t go down from the wall he/she climbed. She described the situation to me.
I continued with the data finding questions “When did this happen? Who does this situation affect? What feelings does cat and kid have? Where do you think they are? How did this happen?” This questions helped us to find information/data about the situation. She replayed my questions by considering her early experience with the cats frequently came to their backyard. For instance, she thought that the cat was there to eat food left over for cat by one of kids’ neighbors.
In order to have the owner ship about the situation I asked her “What would you do if you were the kid in the picture?” She replayed first she could give milk to the cat, then I tried to point out the fact that (even though the proportion of the wall isn’t correct) the cat wants to go down. “What ideas do have to help the cat?” She generated the couple of ideas, one of them was using the small garden stool to reach to the cat, since they had one their
