In 2001, CCSC expanded their partnership to include AACN to better address issues pertaining to workforce and common issues in critical care (Critical Care Societies Collaborative, 2011). AACN legislative position is concurrent with The Nursing Community which supports “legislation that relates to improving access to quality patient care through nursing education, research, and practice” (The Nursing Community). AACN offers eight certifications some in neonatal, pediatric, and adult including critical-care nurse specialist, acute care nurse practitioner, and acute care clinical nurse specialists in adult gerontology. AACN has four publications so nurses can stay current with their practice and learn from evidence-based clinical information. These publications include Critical Care Nurse, AACN Advanced Critical Care, AACN Bold Voices, and American Journal of Critical Care (AJCC). AJCC issues the latest clinical research that also incorporates bedside applications. One article by Jones, Bode, Riha, & Erdman (2016) Safety of Continuous Peripheral Infusion of 3% Sodium Chloride Solution in Neurocritical Care Patients researched the methods of administration of 3% NaCl solution through a peripheral iv versus a central line; in conclusion the outcomes revealed that current recommendations should be
