Critical Thinking has an array of definitions that have different and similar viewpoints. Critical Thinking is an essential aspect of Social Workers among other fields, to guide us in a structured way of thinking, helping us provide sufficient responses to our clients, based on the current knowledge base. Also, increasing confidence in one’s speech to give a more succinct response. Critical Thinking forces use to look at outside influences; such as the environment, theories, personal views, marginalization, among other things to help Social Workers affect change. Considering the factors, this can help identify their value and understand their perspective.

The articles raised problematic issues about measuring critical thinking. Tilbury et al. (2010) article questioned the reliability of the tests. It was difficult to take an accurate measurement of a specific skill set when critical thinking skills overlap. Also, the grading process is less reliable because the scoring is time-consuming. Similarly, Mathias (2014) article questions the validity of critical thinking measurements. The article talked about an assessment that measured critical thinking among students. There were two study groups which each group discussed different topics. The same survey given to both groups and the results to similar. The variety of ways critical thinking can be self-improved is an incentive to the social work profession. The broad range of information found in both articles confirms the complexity of critical thinking. The articles conclude that there has been a revolving definition of critical thinking. The article implies social workers need to critically think which communicate relevant information accurately Mathias (2014). The article discusses how applying critical thinking to a social worker to help value client’s perspective and assist in making logical decisions Tilbury et al. (2010). A saturation of beliefs that claim to define the meaning of critical thinking causes limitations in the articles. It could be challenging to understand the concept of critical thinking when first introduce because there is no foundational definition to dissect.
