The People’s Temple:
The People’s Temple is a cult that started in north America. Their religion is Christianity and they were communists. The People’s Temple started in Indianapolis and later moved to California in 1963. Along the way the recruited people and had some fund raising. The Temple’s end was in south America in 1978. A woman named Dominque She fled from the cult in 1976 said after the mass suicide “I’ve never come closer to losing my mind”, reported Mike Jones from the Seattle PI.
The founder of the People’s Temple was James Warren Jones or Jim jones he was called, a manipulative man. He was a communist that became a reverend. He founded the cult in 1955 then he used the Temple to spread Christianity with communist politics with racial equality. However, when the cult gained a following Jim jones became narcissistic and there are rumors that Jim jones was drinking as well as taking drugs. The cult dissolved after the mass suicide that happened in November 18, 1978.
The Cult earned its money through fundraising, retirement funds, and jobs. …show more content…
