For sandy many people did not think to buy a generator which became a problem for many people who lost their power due to collapsed trees taking down power lines with their fall. Another problem encountered during the sandy era was that the people who did have generators soon realize that gas would be an issue to obtain in a time of need.
I Personally feel if the day before the storm every gas station that was expected to have power load up on Gas to meet society's demand due to all of that extra gas. I also think that if LiPa or who ever was in charge of fixing our power delivered generators to most major gas stations just so they can be running long enough to feed our need for gas at the time. Since gas became harder to obtain, the lines at most of these gas stations would increase due to its demand. I believe that if they wanted to avoid this problem, somehow letting people know at the same time that gas will be distributed in alphabetical order of the drivers I.D or license
