Love is a dangerous word that should not be thrown around lightly. Love also has its consequences; it can be happy and turn into anger real quick, as John quickly learns. In the book “Dear John” the love story drags out, being that they meet one day, having small talk, and hardly making eye contact, to falling deeply in love, over a two week period of time. Although John is heroic, by saving Savannahs bag from the ocean, in the movie it has more of a dramatic effect. None the less they fall in love. Some of the major differences between the book and the movie are; John is more flirtatious than in the book, also Savannah is much more outgoing in the book rather than in the movie, and Johns father is more autistic in the movie than the book leads him to be. …show more content…
Never does he interrupt anyone, is always listening, but in the movie (Bowen, 2009), inside he is very flirtatious, waiting for his move to pounce so to speak. John is also a very jealous guy, and that is shown in both the movie and the book. John seems to be the same guy in the book as he does in the movie, with only small quirky changes. When he meets Savannah, his world is turned upside down, in the book and movie, John falls in love with Savannah very quickly. This proves to be too quick, when he his shipped back to overseas, back to war, after 9/11. Their love is put through the test of time, can true love really prevail? Only time will
