It was a early september sunday morning the second and last day of the 2017 youth deer hunt. I knew i had to get a deer today or i would have to wait till november. I never really did like morning hunts,but i knew i had to go just in case. My dad wan on a bear trip, he usually takes me hunting so my mom had to take me, it was her first hunting and i didnt want to take her but i had no choice. I walked up the stairs after getting dressed,my mom was standing there and said “are you ready to go.” I nodded as it was early and didn't feel like taking. We went to the garage and got ready. It was still september so it wasn't very cold and a simple sweatshirt would be fine. Once we got dressed and ready we had about a 20 minute walk to the stand from our …show more content…
I was using a muzzleloader and at 30 yards i could shoot through a doughnut. The deer stopped and started to eat the beans planted in the field. I knew i had to make this quick before the deer stopped eating and started to walk. I quickly but quietly got the gun up and told my mom to get ready. My mom had her earmuffs on the floor and she went to pick them up the muffs slapped her chair making a roaring bang. The big buck heard this noise and turned around and hopped in the woods. I was furious, i wanted to turn around and scream at her but i knew i couldn't. About ten minutes later the big buck walked out again, I looked at my mom and said “don’t move.” I pulled the gun up and got ready. At this point I knew the deer was about 50 yards away, easily in shooting range. I cocked the hammer of the gun and quietly flipped the safety to the off position. I took a deep breath and squeezed the trigger. The gun made a huge bang and threw a ton of smoke. After the smoke cleared I watched the deer run around the corner of the woods.
