Respect is something everyone wants to have and give. Respect is something that has to be earned, yet how does someone earn respect? First, they have to be honest, give respect to others, and keep their word. If they do this, they will get respect from their peers.
To maintain honesty with someone, they have to tell the truth all the time. This can become difficult because telling a lie is sometimes easier than telling the truth. However, people can tell when someone is not telling the truth. Telling them the truth might be hard, yet they will give respect even though the truth might not have been something they wanted to hear. They will also give respect back because they will understand that you respected them enough not to lie to them.
