LOVE AS DISEASE IN DELIRIUM
In Delirium the president of the United States established love as a deadly disease called armor deliria nervosa . All symptoms are written down in The Safety, Health, and Happiness Handbook. To protect the teenager from the deliria they are separated by gender until they are cured. The infected are going through four phases. In the first phase the body starts to sweat and the brain is not able to think clear anymore. In the second phase the infected person goes through periods of positive emotions, the eating habits change, the person feels also insecure and paranoid. This phase is followed by heavy breathing and pain in the stomach or in the chest, and also erratic behaviour, hallucinations and violent thoughts. The scientists created a cure to protect the people from the disease. But this cure can only be implemented out at the age of at least eighteen years. So the people must live eighteen years with the risk of getting infected. If people get infected before their cure they have to be treated immediately. Sometimes the cure does not work properly in this case the affected person has to be cured a second time. But if neither the second nor the third one is effective, the person gets imprisoned by the government. Now the person is not allowed to leave the prison because they are too dangerous for the human. Before the cure the teenagers get a list of matches from which they can choose their significant other. Of course this people are mostly strangers. And they have no chance to get to know each other before they choose. With this person they are committed to marry. After all the government is seeking to destroy romantic love as part of an effort to control
