The health condition I chose to discuss is Diabetic Neuropathy. Diabetic Neuropathy is the condition where nerves in the body sustain damage overtime due to the effect of diabetes, such as consistent blood glucose levels. This type of neuropathy mostly concerns the nerves in parts of your legs and feet as the high blood sugar can cause serious harm to the nerve fibers throughout the body. Diabetic Neuropathy is known to be the most common chronic complication of all diabetes. "About 60 to 70 percent of people with diabetes have some form of Neuropathy." ("Nerve Damage (Diabetic Neuropathies)", 2013) Not everyone has symptoms but for those who do some of the symptoms people might experience with Diabetic Neuropathy include having pain or loss of feeling throughout your legs and feet region along with burning, tingling, and numbing sensations in the lower extremities. Diabetic Neuropathy can also affect other parts of the body including the digestive and urinary systems and can be very unbearable if the diabetes is not under control. One of the most severe complications associated with Diabetic Neuropathy is losing the affected limb if the nerve damage is too extensive as this can cause for greater risk of infection and possible death. …show more content…
