Ultrasound involves frequency of mechanical sound waves greater than 20 kHz and travels in a straight line. Pulses of sound waves are transmitted in the body through the transducer which reflect back to create an image. The transducer is a device that converts electrical energy into sound energy and reconverts sound energy into electrical energy when reflected by a soft tissue in the body. The components of the ultrasound system allows a sonographer to improve the image quality and acquire quality images without artifacts. Ultrasound has various properties and applications in the field of medicine. Ultrasound imaging is used for visualizing internal organs, measurements of their size, detection of pathology, and cleaning. Ultrasound has been consistently used in the analysis of variety of body systems including musculoskeletal, cardiology, obstetrics, gynecology, abdominal organs, vascular, breast examinations, urology, small parts, pediatrics, and other. Doppler Ultrasound is the most precise ultrasound technique and is very helpful in the diagnosis of many …show more content…
HIFU is a unique and noninvasive technique of ultrasound technology that became renowned of treating patients with prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is a common diseases among men all around the world nowadays. A plenty of research has been done on the treatment of prostate cancer mainly because of increasing percentage of patients suffering through this disease. The main advantage revealed through research on High-intensity Focused Ultrasound is its minimal side-effects. HIFU is mainly related to ultrasound frequency and the length of the sound
