The internet has taken a huge leap in its development since it was launched in 1993. With the boom in the intelligence of the internet as well as the changes in our society and environment being pushed into the digital realm, societal hierarchies are shifting and the digital world is becoming a place of equal opportunity for everyone. We are entering a new society in which large corporations do not pull the strings but rather individual entrepreneurs are being provided the means for independent project startups. Digital equality is such a hot topic at the moment because we are currently in the middle of its rise. The progression of proficiency and efficiency in our educational system greatly affects the future of our society because when kids are brought into the digital world at a younger age and understand the business behind what it takes to make a name for themselves, they can jump into digital advancements earlier on. These advancements help nest individual entrepreneurs which will help our economy because it distributes the power amongst a group rather than being given to one central hub. In using the technological advancements that we now have, computers and the internet specifically can help aid our classrooms and better the school experience for the students. Google developed Classroom, which is an education app to help make classroom time more efficient and improve communication with students. The premise of it is creating a classroom community online in which students can keep track of their assignment while teachers can give real-time feedback to the students. This improves the communication between students, saves time in the classroom that can be used to teach kids more, and it improves their organization and understanding on the way the internet …show more content…
Open source online communities is a continuously growing atmosphere and furthers the ability to work with others that may not have been possible to work with prior. For instance, you are a small town person living on the outskirts of Montana and you have been working on a theory that found yourself stuck on. You decide to share that theory on one of the numerous online communities for some support. Someone from all the way in Norway could read your theory, have had the same theory, and delve more in depth on the topic than you were ever able to. They reach out to you and share their gained knowledge and you realized they held the missing puzzle piece you couldn’t find. Now you are able to continue with your theory, complete it, and maybe even win a Nobel Prize for it. Although the plausibility seems thin, it is not because the access of online communities provides endless possibilities and opportunities for others. Online communities are becoming user-centric and user-friendly so people are more interested to participate and interact with other users in exchanging their knowledge.
