A disaster recovery plan is essential for any IT organization and especially for a computer forensics lab because of the large amount of important data that the workstations are using. In case a catastrophic failure occurs, the disaster recovery plan will ensure that you can restore your file servers and workstations. The following are some of the many aspects that should be consider and how to be ready to respond.

Recovering from catastrophic situations:
Some examples of a catastrophic situation are a fire, earthquake, power outage, flooding, and a robbery. In order to recover from any of these situations, the following measures should be implemented:

• All workstations should be connected to an uninterruptible power supply device (UPS) to allow the workstation to keep working for a short amount of time when the main power supplier is lost.

• The doors of the forensics lab or other important room should have strong security locks. For example, instead of using a key to open it, an electronic card or an eye or fingerprint scanner.

• Fire sprinkles need to be installed in every room in hall.
• Important hardware and data should be configure to when an emergency occurs they can be disconnected immediately and taken out of the building.
• Every person in the building should know where the emergency exits or shelters are.

Severe Virus Infection:
• The same antivirus software must be installed in all of the workstations.
• The antivirus should be one of the best in the market and come with full manufacturer support.
• In case a workstation is found to have a virus, it needs to be disconnected immediately from the network to prevent the virus from expanding to other
