Introduction
What is diversity in organizations? Diversity in any organization means relating different types of people to work together for the success of company. Diversity is divides into two categories primary and secondary. Some of the primary factors of diversity are culture, race, age and gender and secondary factors are education, socioeconomic, marital status and career status.
Impact of Diversity in Organizations Diversity in any organizations means different people from different background are bond together. This influences business in both positive and negative manner. As we know there are different factors of diversity. Firstly coming to cultural effects, people are moving globally and this makes any business organization with different people with the their cultural background. According to Sanner and Baldwin, “Cultural sensitivity has been identified as a major curricular element in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's (AACN) The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice. Thus it is imperative that nursing faculty use effective strategies to help nursing students develop cultural sensitivity and competence. Educational workshops focusing on cultural diversity are usually designed to increase people's cultural sensitivity.” (Sanner, Baldwin, 2010). This explains that cultural diverse brings competence and groups among employees. Thus certain training programs are conducted in all the organizations to train people and get maximum benefits with such adverse group. Secondly coming to race diversity, Herring and Cedric suggests that group from different aspects gives expert solutions rather than people from same place. This diversity brings superior outcomes rather than alone thinker in homogeneity. Thirdly, age is considered as adverse change in organizations. People with different age groups think in different ways as per their generation differences and experience in the group helps to make definite decisions in any matter. Here new generation comes with innovative ideas that enhance experienced ideas, which surely makes lot of differences in the growth of any organizations. Finally, gender also influences the businesses, as there are most of people think in otherwise about the women. According to Klarsfeld and Bender (2009), women are discriminated at work place and utility company for water in Paris was the first one for commitment contrary to gender discrimination. This company was actively participated for rewarding awards for management activities against discriminating gender.
Secondary aspects of diversity that includes marital status, socio economics, career status and “we believe that this work is vitally important as we envision a world in which each child is cherished and nurtured” as Eisler (2000) reminds and says that core of every child is human. According to Brian (2000), more than 70 per cent of the people entering the work force this year will be women, immigrants and people of colour. Studies show that by 2001 women and minorities will account for more than half of the country's work force (Westfield & Stahlhut, 1999).
