How Genetics Technology Affect Society Genetics technology can prove who the father is on the, “Maury,” show. Genetic technologies affect society in many positive aspects, but it also raises some questionable acts that cause people to question their morals. Most of these generally affect the world in a positive aspect. Genetic technologies affect the world in many ways including, solving crimes, resolving questions concerning relation in families, and stem cell research being done to help artificially grow new organs or body parts. There are many new ways that have been proven to effectively solve forensic and other sorts of crimes involving genetic information. Some specific examples of the techniques they use deviate from …show more content…
A new study is being conducted to grow human body parts. These body parts are being grown by stem cells. Stem cells can only be found in developing humans. Stem cells are mainly found in developing infants. More common than infants, they are found in fetuses still developing in the womb. The stem cells in the fetus are used to develop all of the fetus’s organs, limbs, and bones. This caused a recent study to be conducted to experiment with stem cells in growing parts, important major organs, and bones. Studies have shown that these stem cells can form into any cell but once the stem cell has changed, it cannot convert back to its original form as a neutral cell. With this great technology, comes many concerns with the morality of this experiment and potentially life saving method of treatment for missing and deformed body parts. The morality is questioned when determining when life starts in an individual. Many people believe that human life starts at conception and that the fetus can feel pain while being aborted. This can be disproven though because the brain has not yet developed until the fetus is almost is almost born. Another moral issue brought about by stem cell research is whether or not the mother has the right to take away the right of another human’s life which she has brought into the world to begin with. These experiments being done with stem cells can potentially cure cancer and many other diseases while also repairing the damaged areas of the body. Stem cells also have the power to grow new body parts for wounded or deformed
