Designer babies are a huge danger to unborn children and future problems. Designing babies implant and destroy the embryos and natural genes of the baby to their parents liking. This should be illegal because it destroys natural embryos and genes of a child and implants unnatural embryos to the mother’s womb without the child’s consent to be changed. It messes with the child’s genetics so much it may cause future damage to the gene pool or a gap in society. Richard Hayes States “The potential for misuse of this technology could have dire consequences for the human race,” (Steere,1). Designing babies should be illegal because; it’s not natural ,the child doesn’t have a choice, and it may cause future problems. Designing babies are in no way a …show more content…
The child does not give a consent for them to alter their genes. The parent just allows natural genes to be changed without even considering how the child would feel about it. For example, On the article “The Nonmedical screening of Embryos Should Be Banned” states “We now allow deaf parents to select for deaf offspring---will we allow straight parents to select for straight children, and gay parents for gay children,”(Miller,1) This procedure takes the child’s freedom from being it’s own person. Naturally the child could be born able to hear but the parent uses this procedure to take that privilege away. The child always does not get to choose it’s preference of it’s partner because the parent takes away that freedom too. Some parents design a child to benefit another child’s sickness. Some parents create a baby with certain characteristics to help another child’s sickness. An incident was when a couple had a child that was sick and they decided to have another child to design it and take parts of it’s body to heal the sibling. That’s not allowing the child to have any choice in where his own body parts and organs get donated
