Domestic terrorism has been around since the beginning of time in many ways. Domestic terrorism stems from groups or individuals that are citizens of the same country they commit the terrorist act against. For example, a group that resides in the United States and commits an act of violence against citizens of the same country are considered domestic terrorists. For a long time, these acts have been committed and viewed in the same ways, but now as the world advances and discovers new technology, the face of domestic terrorism is changing. To fight against these root causes, we must address systemic injustices, promote inclusivity, and support community involvement, compassion, and resilience. The face of domestic terrorism has always been around and has been found to grow alongside technology and changing societal structures. Technology was created to make things easier and more accessible for people and while it is serving its purposes, unfortunately it has also allowed violent groups to connect easier and expand further. As discussed in this essay, social media has been used to find these like-minded terrorists and also target specific groups to enact these violent crimes against. Even the advancements in biology are being weaponized by these individuals. With the rise of extremist views, to the weaponization of social media, the ever-changing cohesive structures of domestic terrorism require adaptive responses and action. Domestic terrorism is growing alongside technology and will continue to grow until the root causes are identified and disrupted. By understanding the evolving nature of the threat, policymakers, law enforcement, and communities can work together to build a safer and more resilient
