King was well known for his motivating speeches, especially his “I Have a Dream” speech. He even won an award in junior high in a speech contest. (MLK Facts) People would gather to listen to his speeches and to be inspired. He would teach the people about equality and justice for all human beings. His speeches were often a call to action, motivating those around him to see that change was necessary and could be accomplished. As more people began to hear his speeches, more people began to join the movement for equal rights for all people in the U.S. Because of his speeches and protests white officials and citizens became upset with what he was saying so the police arrested Dr. King. Even though he was thrown in jail several times, that didn’t stop him. He showed us that if you want something to change or happen, you have to dedicate yourself to it. You can’t just try it once and if it doesn’t work give up! If it doesn’t work the first time, try it again. Martin inspired so many people in this way. He showed how to stand up for something without using violence but peace to get what we want. He also inspired us to do good in the world. As a devoted Christian, he believed that peace was the best solution for all
