Drug-Makers And Hospitals: A Case Study

Do I feel that there should be a limit on the prices drug makers and hospitals charge a patient? For me personally I can see both sides of the situation being a yes and no answer for different reasons. I have different views on why they should be marked up in situations and why they should sometimes be marked down in other circumstances. I will start by explaining my reasoning behind why I think that drug makers and hospitals shouldn't mark up the drug on certain drugs.
There are many people in today's society that have to take every day medications to survive. Some of these people may not have the source of income that provides them with being able to purchase their medications that are potentially keeping them alive. How are these people going to get their medications being that they have no job, living off of a social security check each month, and the drug makers are raising the cost of their medication periodically. Being that there are so many new diseases in the world there has to be funds, research and a lot of experimenting with new drugs. Where is this money going to come from if drug makers do not mark up the initial cost of the drug? In this situation I do feel as if drug makers should pass on the prices to the patient because of the amount of money it cost to make the drug and initially experiment with it. Potentially experimenting with drugs, the drug makers could come up with a more cost-efficient drug or maybe even a cure to something that is non-curable like cancer. In today's world there are so many people with cancer, being diagnosed with cancer or people who don't even know they have cancer yet, and if researchers could experiment with drugs by charging the patient the initial price of the drug to find a cure many people could benefit from
