The process of medically and psychologically rehabilitating a person for drug or substance abuse is generally called drug rehabilitation. This applies to all the addicts whether it is for alcohol, coke, nicotine or other substances considered being addictive. The process is usually a supportive action to induce treatment and recovery from dependency from these substances and is usually seen as the answer to fight drug addiction.

Generally, drug rehabilitation enables a patient to stop the use of the substance they are addicted to. The aim of drug rehabilitation is to allow the individual to be able to resist the drug and bring them back as productive and functioning members of the society.

Drug rehabilitation requires the person who applied to participate in the rehabilitation process. This includes them being open-minded and willing to undergo treatments and activities which the attending physicians and counselors may prescribe. The only way that a drug addict can be cured of his addiction is when they allow themselves to realize the gravity and the reality of their addiction.
