The reading for week one was very interesting considering they all had a specific interest. In the story on dumpster diving, it basically tells the story of the author, Lars Eighner who had a major lifestyle change by choice from being employed by the federal government and living a lifestyle revolving around normal things that society worships to living a lifestyle of scavenging through dumpsters and living off other peoples trash. The second story introduces the readers to the author Nancy Mairs on her life of being physically disabled and living a normal life. The third reading is about the author E.B. White and his memories of going to his family cabin on a lake.

She acted like the people that are around here on a daily basis judge her about being physically disabled and her using it is a “crutch” or another leg to stand on, but she actually didn’t want to be judged as being disabled, hence the reason why she called herself “cripple”. Her attitude made it much easier to read the story, because at the start the story I assumed that this story would be story that would make me feel sorry for the author like some people that are physically disabled think people should treat them so when she showed her attitude in the story that she didn’t want to be treated like she was disabled and called herself a cripple, I actually wanted to read the story.

Most situations that involve major lifestyle changes involving money or a major change in life in general like a divorce or death in the family.
