The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition for an entrepreneur is “one who organizes, manages, and assumes the risks of a business or enterprise”, but I believe a better definition of an entrepreneur is “one who has persistence, inquisitiveness, self-confidence, tolerance for failure, creativity, innovation, personal initiative, competitiveness, commitment,strong management and organizational skills and assumes the risk of a business or enterprise.” It is these characteristics that lead to the entrepreneurial dream, the dream of self-employment that leads to freedom to start, grow and cash in a new business. Two of those characteristics I believe I have, are Organizational Skills and Personal Initiative. In 2013 my family and I moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Plano, Texas. When we were moving we realized we had a lot of stuff we didn’t need, so I decided to have a garage sale to sell our stuff. I organized all the stuff we had that we didn’t want anymore by price, and put up signs around our neighborhood. At the end of the garage sale I had made 80 dollars which I donated to the our church, so they could use it for mission trips, the rest of the items from the garages sale which we didn’t sell I donated to Goodwill, a store that will resell the items for cheaper to people who can’t afford it. I believe I showed personal initiative by deciding to start the garage sale and organizational skills by setting everything up and going through with it.
