“Athletes are more vulnerable to eating disorders than the average person.” I personally think sports are fantastic, it is the person playing that in is control of their body. With that being said, just because eating to gain weight, or not eating to lose weight still won’t mean you will meet the coach’s expectations. “Women are more likely to develop eating disorders than men, and athletes in sports where body aesthetics and weight are important are more likely to develop eating disorders than those who play other sports.” People that are in sports don’t understand that to meet the desired weight, training is needed. If weight needs to be lost, then it needs to be lost the right way. Food is not the problem, it is the amount being consumed. To help out with eating disorders when playing sports a few treatments that can help is by exercising and eating the proper way. “Adequate nutrition, reducing excessive exercise, and stopping purging behaviors are the foundations of treatment.” These treatments help children and adults because it shows them how to eat the right way and how to cope with their body
