Edward Jenner is the inventor of the smallpox vaccination. Smallpox is a virus that exhibits flu like symptoms, rash, fatigue, and severe back pain. It was the first disease to ever be annihilated from Earth. Smallpox is one the most fatal viruses known to man. There is no cure for smallpox therefore, once someone had it. “An estimated 300 million people died from smallpox in the 20th century alone. This virulent disease, which kills a third of those it infects…” from BBC article. The Smallpox Vaccination should be put in the Invention Hall of Fame because without it, immunology would not have been “born’ for several years, and thousands to millions of people would die.
