One person standing up against injustice and cruelty ignites others to do the same. I may only be a high school student who is only 16 years old; however, I experience, firsthand, the types of injustices that are experienced by many young people. I used to believe that remaining uninvolved was far better than committing to the ills that others endure. I was wrong. Child survivors such as Elie Wiesel have inspired me to take a stand against injustice, rather than avoiding the cruel events. Many people are too often afraid to do what is right, just because they might be alone in doing so. With the discrimination going on in today’s society, children need people to help them stand up against these prejudices.
I believe that there is a vast difference between having the education and the knowledge of the injustices and actually using that knowledge to make a difference in the world and help prevent future injustices from occurring. I have grown to the realization that despite what people may think, we hold the infinite power to stop the cruelties that others face on a daily basis. Human beings are capable of extremely cruel things, but it takes one person to lead a movement and others will soon join the
