The Ellen DeGeneres Show is a North American talk show and the first broadcast was in 2003. Ellen DeGeneres is a blond, short haired lesbian host. She was born in 1958 and she’s now 59 years old. She married Portia de Rossi in 2008. You could say that North American television has a nice way of choosing their hosts. It is overall known that homosexuality isn’t accepted in all countries. It is remarkable that she is very famous, even though some people might judge her easily because of her sexuality. She’s mostly known of being very funny and social. Ellen is always dressed properly, unless she wants to do a funny act. There’s not a lot of cleavage and she isn’t portrayed in any kind of a sexual way. The show already has fourteen seasons and isn’t planning to quit anytime soon. It has a lot of success, not only in America, but all over the world. There isn’t a specific group of people that watch her show. There are a lot of teenagers, a lot of women and a lot of men that watch it. Aside from those groups, many children also watch the show. Even young children can come on the show and talk with Ellen. It is suitable for everyone. Entertainment is the key. If we take, for example, Dr. Phil to compare this show with, we can see some significant differences. Dr. Phil is an old, chubby man in his sixties. North America could’ve easily picked a muscled guy to host the Dr. Phil show, but they didn’t. Instead of entertainment, the key to his show is trying to help people and make sure they get the right treatment for their problems. We could say that North America doesn’t emphasize the appearance of the host. Their shows represent quality based on the content. However, there’s not one talk show in North America that has a outstanding ugly host. So, if we say that the appearance doesn’t matter at all, we would be lying.
