Ellis Island played a crucial role in serving as a gateway to the American dream. In this paper, we will dive into the various benefits our country has gained from allowing refugees to seek asylum in the United States. Ellis Island holds a very significant place in American history. In 1892, just off the coast of Manhattan, a primary immigration station was established. During this period there was rapid urbanization and economic growth throughout the country, especially in the state of New York. This attracted millions of people around the world searching for better opportunities and a chance at a new life.
