Testing the best static charge Purpose : In order to get to know more about static electricity and object which can produce the best static charge. Materials : Group A: vinyl, plexiglass, acetate and ebonite. Group B:fur, wool, plastic,and cotton. The evaluate object: pith balls Procedure : 1. Prepare every material out, and put it into 2 groups which are group A and group B, then put it away from the experiment area.. 2. Place the pith balls on the table and put it closely. 3. Rub the vinyl on one of the group B material for 30 seconds. 4. Place the vinyl on the top of the pith balls for 5 seconds, and record the attracted pith balls into your observation. 5. Repeat the procedure 2,3,4, for 2 more times. 6. When rub and test with all the group B materials, change vinyl to plexiglass and repeat the procedure 2,3,4,5. 7. After you finish the test of plexiglass, change plexiglass to acetate, then repeat the procedure 2,3,4,5. 8. Change acetate to ebonite, then repeat the procedure 2,3,4,5.
