At least 2,403 sailors, soldiers and civilians were killed along with 1,000 wounded in the horrific Pearl Harbor Attack. By exploring what lead up to Pearl Harbor, the actual attack, and how we recovered , a person can see how monumental this attack really was.
There were many events that lead up to the battle of Pearl Harbor. There were many conflicts between many countries at the same time that caused many attacks and acts. There was one act that was a big part of causing this horrific attack. This act was called The Embargo Act. The Embargo Act was a law passed by the United State Congress on December 22, 1807. This law prohibited American ships from trading in all foreign ports(“Pearl Harbor” HistoryNet). This meant that

One country that has always been involved with the US is Japan. Japan and the US have been at tension for years, and they grew more tense when Japan was struggling with their economy and supplies. When this was happening, they aggressively wanted to expand into China. In the 1930s, Japan was trying to forcibly take over China and there import markets(“Pearl Harbor”). This created tension because China is a Ally with the US so the US stepped in and created tension with Japan and it was getting worse. China had an impact because Japan was trying to invade and take over part of their land and economy, Japan also was preparing for attack against British Malaya to also try and take over their economy because British Malaya was a main source of rice, rubber, and tin, and the oil-rich Dutch East Indies(“The Path to Pearl”). This also caused the US to step in and create a big circle of conflict between these countries. This was a bad time in history because when there was conflict with countries it affected other countries as well. This happened to Asia because the US and Japan's conflict affected Asian natural resources by Japan's desire to use East Asia to gain natural resources and sell manufactured products. This was in direct conflict with American plans for Asia(“Pearl Harbor”).
