Work hard in school and get good scores are the cultural norm of teenagers in America, teenagers are expected to always maintain the highest level of performance in sports or academic, they possibly can. But some people might forget that teens are facing many changes physically and mentally with the combination of greater responsibility. However, there is one kind of beverages can help improve their cognitive performance instantly and it is increasingly advertised to young teenagers without precaution. Although this drink might sound of a great supplement to improve teen’s cognitive performance, teenagers are unaware of the higher risk of suicidal thought leading from these drinks.

Derek Beres claims that "The stunning rise of obesity in not only adults but children and teens as well is cause for alarm. The prevalence of obesity in American children is now at 31 percent." (Beres). Body image is one of the problems in America society, where social media are surrounding people every minute. America has sky rocking obesity rate compared to the world. That sweet, savory junk food or energy drinks are very addictive because it contains a lot of sugar and loving sugar is a human nature. By consuming sugary beverages, teens are less likely to consume more of other vitamins in fruits or drink more water. These sugar beverages would quickly convert to fat into teen's bodies. Many teens get bullied on social media, depression, or suicidal thought when they cannot have the model body they wanted. After reviewing many case reports, Daniel Hernandez-Huerta reports that “Although these cases imply that excessive consumption of energy drinks may act as a trigger for relapse in certain vulnerable people with preexisting mental health problems, cases have also emerged in which serious psychiatric symptoms have occurred in otherwise healthy individuals [15].” (2) Indeed, mental health is very important to adolescents and also to their parents, the parent should know how energy drinks intake, so it could not affect their emotional well-being and social development. Teens can feel socially isolated, unable to be optimistic about their future or may have behaviors of withdrawal. If the situation is left untreated can lead to mental disorder and affecting their behavior, even though they have or have not preexisting mental health problems. The majority of teens, who intake, an excessive amount of energy drinks, cannot get themselves out of the mental health problems that they are facing. Therefore, adults should be there to help them recognize their mental and behavioral problems as soon as possible before it leads to bad consequences, like suicidal
