Epidural Anesthesia
This anesthesia is the most common form of relieving pain when undergoing labor. This type of anesthesia is regional anesthesia for it does not numb your whole body only pain in the particular parts, like the surrounding parts to where it is injected. This anesthesia is an anesthesia that isn’t like other anesthesia, by that I mean how this type of anesthesia is more of a pain reliever rather than not letting you feel anything at all. Most women who do decide to get a type of medicine to not feel most pain, prefer epidural. Since this medication is injected to the lower segments of the spine, it leads to a decrease in sensation in the lower body. This anesthesia is injected …show more content…
This drug is widely used all over the world so it can block the feeling, which in this case are the nerves, in the lower part of the spinal segments, so the person can’t feel any pain in their lower body. It’s is mainly for lower body procedures. It may be a prescribed drug for those with excruciating lower body pains that are felt constantly. There are several components to this drug that can never be missing because if they are they won’t make up the bupivacaine drug in the epidural anesthesia. Because of that one oxygen combining with 28 hydrogen’s and 18 carbons and two nitrogen’s it is particularly strong, and it would be much stronger if it had more oxygen molecules. This chemical formula is made up of four nonmetal elements which have a state of a gas when alone, but combine to create a liquid when put together. They are the most common gases in the periodic table in fact the most common elements as well. In this formula carbon makes up 216.198g of the molar mass which signifies that carbon is 75% of what the formula is made up of. Hydrogen makes up 28.224g which leaves it in 9.8% of the molar mass. Nitrogen makes up 28.014g of the molar mass leaving it at 9.7%. The least of all would be Oxygen with just one molecule of 15.999g leaving it at 5.5%. This formula is mostly made up of carbon and the molar mass as well is made up of mostly carbon. I have gone through the chemistry of the epidural and what it is made up of and how it works; it is truly important to understand that the chemistry behind it is what makes it work how it
