In our world today, many people believe in equality. In the 18th century, people believed in equality and freedom as well. Throughout this time period, there were four main people that strived for these two subjects. Their names were: John Locke, Voltaire, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollstonecraft. All four of these people had strong beliefs for freedom and equality, but in different ways. In 1690 a man named John Locke believed in the rights of the people.
